Do a city tour of Kandy

Kandy, the last royal capital of Sri Lanka, is a charming hill country city and a World Heritage Site surrounded by misty mountains and lush greenery. Proceed to Peradeniya.

The Royal Botanic Gardens, Peradeniya, is one of Sri Lanka’s most beautiful and well-maintained botanical gardens, located near Kandy in the lush central hills. Originally developed as a royal pleasure garden, it now spans over 140 acres and showcases an impressive collection of tropical plants, orchids, palm avenues, medicinal plants, and rare tree species from around the world. Proceed to Sigiriya.

Climb the 5th century Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Sri Lanka, built by King Kashyapa (477–495 AD). The “Lion Rock” rises dramatically about 200 metres above the surrounding jungle and once served as an impressive royal citadel and fortified city. The ancient complex includes a moat, ramparts, and beautifully designed water gardens that still showcase the advanced engineering skills of early Sri Lankan civilization. As you ascend the rock, visit the world-famous frescoes of the “Heavenly Maidens” of Sigiriya, painted in natural earth pigments on sheltered rock surfaces and accessed via a spiral stairway.
